In 2022, Alias marked a major milestone on the international design stage by winning the Archiproducts Design Awards with the PLETTRO Desk, a refined collaboration with acclaimed designer Paolo Rizzatto. This achievement highlights how thoughtful innovation and typological reinterpretation continue to define contemporary furniture design. Alias Design+1

The Archiproducts Design Awards are a globally recognised celebration of design excellence, innovation, and craftsmanship. Each year, the awards spotlight products that push the boundaries of form, function, and material expression — gathering architects, designers, editorial voices, and brands in a shared dialogue about the creative direction of design.

At the core of the 2022 award for Alias was the PLETTRO Desk, conceived by Paolo Rizzatto. This project reimagines a traditional table typology with contemporary clarity. By deconstructing the desk’s top and rebalancing its structural elements, PLETTRO creates spatial rhythm and organisational intelligence without sacrificing elegance. Its slender intersecting tops and integrated cable management system respond to the diverse ways we work today — from focused tasks to hybrid living spaces.

Paolo Rizzatto — a Milan-born architect and designer with a longstanding relationship with Alias — has consistently infused his work with a harmonised blend of functional logic, refined proportions, and material sensibility. His contributions to Alias include iconic pieces like the New Lady chair and Violon armchair, each reflecting his commitment to clarity and design rigour.

Winning the Archiproducts Design Award underscores not only the strength of individual products like PLETTRO Desk but also the collective spirit of experimentation and excellence that drives Alias and partners within the broader design community. As design continues to evolve, recognitions like the ADAs create a platform for innovation that resonates far beyond a single object — influencing how we conceive spaces, interactions, and the objects we live with.
